HGA’s Adaheid Mestad and Mahshid Jalalian will present at this year’s American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Annual Meeting. Mestad and Jalalian will join leaders from Elevativ LLC and the Walker Art Center to discuss how institutions can use different kinds of data to understand how their visitors experience their building, and identify opportunities to create more welcoming and inclusive spaces.

Within cultural institutions, big data is gathered primarily through cell phone tracking, website and social media analytics, and internal administration and membership systems. Thick data is acquired by engaging diverse users to understand their behavior and personal experience. Hear why both data types are essential to strategic decisions, continued investment, and the development of programs and operations that amplify community impact.
