The goal of achieving Net Zero energy lab buildings is becoming a common theme for projects in the planning and design stages. While new strategies and systems have brought this goal within reach for general lab facilities, what are the possibilities for more intensive labs?

The conversation will highlight MIT.nano, an award-winning building that is home to a cluster of world-class laboratories, including class 100 and 1,000 cleanrooms, imaging suites, nano-makerspace, and chemistry teaching laboratories. MIT.nano demonstrates stellar energy performance through rigorous conservation measures and is recognized with an AIA COTE Top Ten Award along with numerous other sustainable design accolades. Considering emerging technologies, we will explore the question: would Net Zero be achievable for MIT.nano if the project was being designed today?
