Star Tribune: Water Works Park and Pavilion gives Minneapolis a front porch on the Mississippi

Design of Water Works Park and Pavilion achieves simplicity without being simplistic.

Former Star Tribune architecture critic and reporter Linda Mack calls Water Works “the most intriguing new building in the Twin Cities,” and “a triumph.” The Park and Pavilion, a recently-opened addition to the Mississippi riverfront in downtown Minneapolis, brings modern vitality and presence to one of the city’s most historic landmarks. Integrated with the ruins of mills that once lined the river, the Water Works building and pavilion are preserving a city’s history while providing its residents with spaces to relax, enjoy, and explore. Water Works is home to Owamni, Minnesota’s first full-service Native American restaurant, which was recently listed on The New York Times’ 2021 Top 50 Restaurant List and featured in Vogue.
