Prairie Care Medical Group is a growing regional behavioral healthcare group in Southeast Minnesota. Prairie Care provides intensive outpatient program therapy (IOP) for children and adolescents. While on site, patients participate in their education by the public school a portion of their day and individual or group therapy for a portion of their day. The new facility was designed and constructed to meet the demand for care in the Rochester area and reduce the stigma often associated with mental health, particularly for adolescents.

The facility houses four IOP ‘pod’ units for children, adolescents, and adults. Each pod consists of therapist offices, classrooms, group rooms, and activity spaces organized around a central milieu space. Multipurpose space is used for children to expend excess energy and is also available for community functions during non-business hours. The exterior spaces are designed to have secure and semi-private outdoor environments to allow patients and staff to experience nature as a part of their healing.
