HGA is working in partnership with several national consultants to convert the historic 1923 Union Depot in downtown St. Paul into a multimodal transportation hub of the Upper Midwest. The Depot consists of five components-the three-story Head House, the two-story Concourse, the Waiting Room, the Train Deck, and the Parking Garage. The Depot additionally connects with several major street arteries, including Kellogg Boulevard and nearby Interstates. The project combines historic restoration with extensive infrastructure and civil engineering upgrades. Design details include a new main entrance along Kellogg Boulevard for train and bus passengers, a refurbished grand waiting room with restored skylights and Amtrak ticketing booths, and modernized train deck.
