Jefferson County Health Center

Enhancing Patient Experience through Design

Jefferson County Health Center, a rural regional healthcare provider, had a new vision for delivering healthcare services to their community. HGA helped them support this vision through the design and construction of a replacement hospital with integrated clinic. This new hospital provides maximum operational efficiency and flexibility, along with patient safety and dignity, and focus on wellness.

HGA refined the space program for a “right-sized” hospital and clinic. All spaces were planned to enhance the patient experience with an emphasis on privacy, convenience, sustainability, and confidentiality. The site plan provides visibility to the facility, while allowing for future growth and development. The layout also allows for separation of patient, staff, truck, and ambulance traffic, lending to the safety of the total environment.

The exterior design uses brick and natural-looking materials such as roughcut stone and wood. The building’s primary feature space is the entry lobby, with broad expanses of glass offering views to the site. A tall, sunlit corridor connects the entry lobby to the nursing unit along the south side of the building. The building includes large, open public spaces with ample daylight and windows.
