State of Minnesota Government Facilities, PBEEEP Energy Audits

Improving the Energy Efficiency
of State Buildings

The program to improve the energy efficiency of buildings owned by the state of Minnesota, Public Buildings Enhanced Energy Efficiency Program (PBEEEP), launched in 2010. Over 1,000 buildings have taken advantage of the B3 Benchmarking system as a way to qualify projects, track energy use, and monitor and verify energy savings.

PBEEEP is a collaborative effort of the State Of Minnesota, Department Of Commerce, Office Of Energy Security, and the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE). HGA directed energy audits for several State of Minnesota government facilities, totaling more than 2.6 million square feet of space. We identified energy efficiency improvements that will reduce energy use, greenhouse gas emission, and operating costs while improving occupant comfort and optimizing building operations. The projects include:

  • Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Building, St. Paul
  • Rush City Correctional Facility, Rush City
  • Minnesota State Office Building and Parking Ramp, St. Paul
  • Minnesota State Retirement System, St. Paul
  • Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf Campus, Faribault
  • Department of Transportation, Roseville
  • Red Wing Correctional Facility, Red Wing
  • Mankato State University, Mankato
  • Fond du Lac Tribal Community College, Cloquet
