The Loop Restaurant by HGA Opens in Downtown Rochester

Since opening this April, The Loop restaurant by HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) is already proving a popular destination in downtown Rochester, Minnesota. Located on the street-level of 318 Commons, a mixed-use student residential and commercial development by HGA, The Loop is geared toward the growing downtown population supported by the University of Minnesota Rochester, BioBusiness Center, Mayo Clinic, and other nearby businesses.

A spin-off of the popular Loop restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, The Loop in Rochester takes its design cues from the original venue in an historic warehouse while adding updated details.

The clients, four partners originally from Rochester, sought a cross between a casual pub and an upscale grill.

"We strove for an urban rustic feel for the restaurant," said Jennifer Logelin, CID, lead interior designer with HGA in Rochester. "The original Minneapolis restaurant had the advantage of being in an older space with a lot of built-in, old-world character. Here we were starting with a clean slate in a new building. We wanted to combine an historic look with modern touches to appeal to a diverse urban crowd, including students and young professionals living at 318 Commons."
