HGA Wins "Top Projects" Award

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities, designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, has won a Top Projects award, sponsored by the Daily Reporter.

The Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center provides distinct performance and exhibit space for the University's growing Music, Theater Arts, and Art Departments. Designed as a renovation and expansion to the Communication Arts Building, the project includes a 340-seat Concert Hall, 120-seat Black Box Theater, art-instruction studios, music library, galleries, classrooms, and support space. Most prominently, the renovation repositions the main entrance to the west side of the building to create a grand entrance that establishes the 'Rita' as a campus gateway that welcomes students and the community.

The building is named for the late Rita Tallent Picken, an arts enthusiast and community advocate who was instrumental in framing the Parkside campus.

The annual Daily Reporter Top Projects program recognizes outstanding work by general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners. The award was presented at a gala reception at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 3.
