HGA to Design Restoration and Preservation to Minnesota State Capitol

HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) has been awarded the commission for the predesign and design of repairs, restoration and preservation to the Minnesota State Capitol on the Capitol Mall in St. Paul.

The project includes exterior repairs; mechanical, electrical, fire-safety, technology and security systems upgrades; ADA modernization; and interior functional improvements.

"The Minnesota State Capitol is one of the state's most important architectural landmarks," said Michael Bjornberg, AIA, associate vice president and project manager with HGA. "And like many state Capitols around the country, the building is in need of restoration to maintain its architectural integrity and adaptability for modern uses. The focus of our work is to take the building into the next 100 years in accordance with the Comprehensive Master Plan prepared by MOCA and approved by the Minnesota Capitol Preservation Commission."
