Saint Boniface Episcopal Church

Mequon, Wisconsin

Overview

The expanded St. Boniface Episcopal Church sits on the site of the original church, established more than 150 years ago on the Lake Michigan shoreline outside Milwaukee. A steeply pitched gable roof and sleek bell tower symbolically join the old with the new. Copper cladding shimmers in the sunlight. Inside, exposed timbers and Douglas-fir decking highlight the 350-seat worship space. A limestone altar and platform thrust outward into the worship space, where cherry pews set atop a slate floor. Additionally, a new multipurpose gathering space is filled with daylight, enhancing the feeling of community before and after worship services.
