As the new front door to the Cabrillo College campus, the 52,000-square-foot Student Services Center blends with the school's existing Monterey Bay-style architecture while capitalizing on Pacific Ocean views. The center houses a bookstore, computer training and testing center, enrollment services, career center, and student activity center. The plan promotes student and faculty interaction, providing spaces for creative collaborations and informal meetings. The building meets LEED certification standards with numerous sustainable elements, including natural cross ventilation, state-of-the-art mechanical system, energy-efficient lighting, and recycled material, including pressed sunflower seed panels, bamboo flooring, and resin display walls.
