Medtronic, World Headquarters and Research Facility
Campus Puts Health at Core of Design
Medtronic’s 1 million-SF headquarters expresses its corporate vision of restoring people to health. The master plan centers around open space planning, phased expansion, and a functional expression of the company’s values.
The campus presents an elegant arrival sequence through wetlands. The collegiate-style architecture unites several low-rise limestone buildings within the garden-like setting. The first phase includes 450,000 SF of space for 1,100 employees in the Corporate, Research, and Neurological Services groups. A campus commons includes food service, a fitness center, library, and an auditorium. Work spaces focus on a departmental neighborhood model. These neighborhoods form larger communities, which relate to each other through primary commons areas.
