Ford Center Wins TOBY Award

The Ford Center renovation by HGA has won The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award for Historical Building, sponsored by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). The award recognizes excellence in commercial building management and operations.

HGA converted the former Ford Model T Assembly Plant in Minneapolis into a modern office building that includes its own offices on four floors. The building features a restored red-brick façade, new public entrance pavilion, and renovated lobby with 20-foot-high ceilings. HGA’s offices include a 1st-floor gallery with conference rooms, central staircase that visually connects the floors, open workstations and teaming areas, and expansive industrial windows that infuse the interior with daylight.

The jurors evaluated the winning projects for community impact, tenant/employee relations programs, energy management systems, accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs, and overall quality.

The Ford Center is LEED CSv2 Silver, and HGA’s offices are LEED CI Platinum.
