SSM St. Clare Health Center in St. Louis, designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, has won the 2010 Vista Award for New Construction. Sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American Institute of Architects/Academy of Architecture for Health (AIA/AAH), the Vista Award recognizes teamwork in designing and constructing healthcare environments in three categories-new construction, renovation and infrastructure.

"The Vista Award acknowledges the expertise of the entire team in creating one of the leading health centers in St. Louis," said Kurt Spiering, AIA, ACHA, principal with HGA. "Through intense, interactive design sessions, we designed a campus that improves the patient experience through streamlined work processes, state-of-the-art technology and progressive amenities that will attract top physicians and staff for the best possible care."

Robert G. Porter, president, programs and services/chief strategy officer for SSM Health Care-St. Louis, said that SSM Health Care established a vision to "fundamentally reinvent the healthcare experience from the ground up-for patients, physicians and staff-to achieve breakthrough results in satisfaction, patient safety, clinical outcomes and operating performance."
