318 Commons is Benchmark for Progressive Student Housing

10.11.11

A progressive new model for student residential housing in Rochester, Minnesota, is attracting national attention. Designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, 318 Commons is a mixed-use retail, office, classroom and residential development that includes market-rate, amenity-rich apartments for students at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR), as well as local residents wanting to live downtown.

Located within The Urban Village District, 318 Commons is a short walk from Mayo Clinic, the UMR campus at University Square Mall, and the Minnesota Bio-Business Center, as well as other businesses, restaurants, shops and attractions. The mixed-use project also was designed, in part, to help support growing business opportunities in downtown Rochester as residents turn to local merchants for their daily shopping and entertainment needs.
