Kerry Group EMEA Global Technology and Innovation Centre

Advancing Ingenuity For An International Leader

Kerry Group’s Global Technology & Innovation Centre consolidates international business operations from 12 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) for the company’s Ingredients & Flavours division.

Set on a 24-acre site, the 250,000-SF facility includes an interconnected administrative office building, customer application & development building, corporate lab building, and pilot plant.

The exterior features horizontal bands of sand-colored terra-cotta panels, gray metal panels, and expansive glass curtain wall. Inside, lean space planning promotes efficient workflow and collaboration. The administrative office building, for instance, organizes open workstations around pocket collaboration centers while the pilot plant promotes research & development innovation through flexible technology, such as a plug-and-play system that enables customers to bring their own technology to test scalable samples.

Sustainable Design

Kerry will be one of the leading green buildings in Ireland with several energy-efficient technologies to achieve low-carbon benchmarks, including solar-thermal energy, heat recovery system, high-performance glazing, environmentally sensitive interior finishes, daylighting, rainwater capture system, and site restoration.

Commissioning

HGA provided LEED® prerequisite commissioning to confirm that the owner’s energy efficiency and functionality goals were met. The complex meets Energy Star rating and resulted in overall energy use of 27 percent better than code and 15 percent better than ASHRAE 90.1, 2004. The team commissioned over 600 pieces of equipment and performed more than 100 functional performance tests. 95 percent of issues were corrected prior to occupancy.
